The BG BAU, the German statutory accident insurer for the construction industry, has signed the “Charter of Diversity.” The Charter is Germany’s largest employer initiative aimed at promoting diversity and appreciation in the workplace. The commitment entails creating a bias-free environment where all employees are respected, regardless of origin, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristics.
“The ‘Charter of Diversity’ is for us both a declaration of commitment and a mandate,” explained Michael Kirsch, the CEO of BG BAU, at the signing ceremony in Berlin. “On one hand, we are sending a clear message: we stand for a work environment where everyone is welcome and can contribute their strengths. At the same time, we put this inclusive creed into practice in our daily interactions,” Kirsch said.
His deputy, Katia-Julia Rostek, added that managing diversity is a significant mission and “always a win.” “Because: diversity makes us strong,” Rostek said. “Each and every person can help make BG BAU a place where we enjoy working and where tolerance and respectful conduct are lived and valued. We have reaffirmed exactly this sense of community with our signature on the ‘Charter of Diversity.'”
So far, 6,500 companies and institutions have signed the Charter of Diversity.
