Will Lucy Diakovska, No Angels Singer, Become Mayor Soon?

Lucy Diakovska (49) speaks in a new interview about her political ambitions. In Germany she is best known as a member of the girl group No Angels, and as an openly lesbian singer, she now wants to become mayor. The Bulgarian-born artist, who has also won Jungle Camp—the German version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!—plans to run in her hometown Pleven.
The singer has been running a hotel there for several years and appears to be involved in Pleven without any party affiliation, according to the Bild newspaper (paywalled article). “I feel that my desire to leave something meaningful behind is growing with each year,” she tells the newspaper. And she is not talking about her music. “This hotel and the care of the adjacent nature reserve should become my life’s work,” Diakovska explains.

“I want to improve the lives of my fellow citizens”

And the singer says: “I want to run for mayor in 2027 and I am in constant dialogue with politicians.” Diakovska, who will celebrate her 50th birthday on Thursday, further explains: “I’ve become a very social person and I want to improve the lives of my fellow citizens.” This is also important to her when it comes to her employees, “which is why they receive the very best treatment.”
Diakovska has been on stage for countless years and became a star in Germany with No Angels in the early 2000s. The girl group arose from the first season of the TV show “Popstars.” In 2008 the band represented Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade with the song “Disappear”—ultimately they finished in 23rd place, the third-to-last; twelve points came from Bulgaria. In 2024 the singer took part in the German reality-TV classic “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” and at the end of the season snagged the coveted Jungle Crown (reported by TheColu.mn).
