The minds behind “South Park” have announced that the hit animated series will be renamed to “South America” just ahead of the new season’s premiere. The playful stunt is a wink at U.S. President Donald Trump’s most recent Rename-obsession spree.
In an X post ahead of the new season, the show teased the rename. “Inspired by the courage and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the creators proclaimed on the microblogging platform.

Reaction to Donald Trump’s Rename Obsession
The show’s creators referenced the president’s rename-forward motion by noting the moves by the two tech giants to rename bodies of water—policies that align with the president’s orders. Trump recently renamed Lake Ontario to “Lake America” amid a trade dispute with Canada. And back in January 2025, he renamed the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America.”

Series “South Park” Starts Season 29
The TV show “South Park” is returning soon with new episodes: Comedy Central and Paramount+ have announced the 29th season of the cult series for September 16. The release in the German-speaking region will run via Comedy Central and will soon be available for streaming on Paramount+. The two creators of the often socially critical and satirical animated series, Trey Parker (56) and Matt Stone (55), aren’t shying away from hard-hitting topics this time either.
