In fall 2026, Rosalie Thomass (39) makes her debut in the Franconian “Tatort.” This was announced by Bavarian Broadcasting. Her first case is titled “Gottesgarten” and is quite queer. Together with Fabian Hinrichs (born 1974) as Detective Chief Inspector Felix Voss, she investigates as Detective Chief Inspector Emilia Rathgeber in the Franconian team.
The case begins for the two with a murder in Nuremberg: in a short-stay hotel, drag performer Elias Schaller (Moritz Bock, born 1997) is found dead. For Voss and his new colleague, at first a crime in the red-light district seems likely. But the longer they investigate, the more questions arise.
Numerous DNA traces don’t help them at first. Moreover, the murder weapon cannot be located. One lead ultimately takes the investigators to the Upper Franconian region Gottesgarten and to Elias’ parents, who react very differently to his death. The investigators face a riddle that raises questions about justice and fairness.

Beyond the two lead detectives, Eli Wasserscheid remains in the role of Inspector Wanda Goldwasser. Stefan Merki again portrays the Nuremberg Police Chief Dr. Kaiser. At the scene, Matthias Egersdörfer returns as Michael Schatz and Lisa Sophie Kusz as Esmeralda Schmuck.
For “Tatort: Gottesgarten” additional cast members include Leonard Scheicher, Anselm Ferdinand Bresgott, and Jörg Witte. Other roles are played by Horst Kummeth, Jule Gartzke, and Anhelina Vlasenko. Petr Pelikán, the pathology prep technician at Klinikum Nürnberg, also appears in a guest role.
In “Tatort: Gottesgarten,” Fabian Hinrichs is now working with a partner again for the first time. His eleventh case, “Ich sehe dich” (“I See You”), he had to solve alone. Previously Dagmar Manzel played Commissioner Paula Ringelhahn alongside him. After ten joint cases, she said goodbye in October 2024 with “Tatort: Trotzdem”.
Tatort-Sommerpause endet am 13. September
The “Tatort” is still on its summer break. On September 13, the crime series returns with “Tatort: König in Gelb” (The King in Yellow). Maria Furtwängler stars as Charlotte Lindholm in this episode. A week later, on September 20, Klaus J. Behrendt and Dietmar Bär join as Cologne investigators Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk in “Die letzten Menschen von Köln” (The Last People of Cologne). Both cases, as usual, air Sundays at 8:15 p.m. on ARD’s Das Erste.
