A queer couple was attacked by a man on Monday afternoon in the Ludwigsburg district. Police are seeking witnesses and others who came to the couple’s aid.
According to authorities, a 23-year-old transgender man and his 21-year-old partner were getting off a bus in Asperg around 12:25 p.m. when a man approached them from behind. He allegedly shouted at the couple and, among other things, called them “crazy.” The incident occurred at the Stadtmitte stop on Markgröninger Straße.
The couple initially ignored the man and continued walking, but the unknown assailant moved in so close to the 21-year-old that the 23-year-old stepped in between them. The suspect then allegedly punched the 23-year-old and wrestled him to the ground. The 21-year-old, who tried to help his partner, was also struck.
According to the police, the suspect only stopped the attack when a group of men intervened. He then fled. The 23-year-old managed to catch up with the assailant, but after another scuffle the unidentified man ultimately escaped. Police said both the 23-year-old and the 21-year-old sustained minor injuries.
The suspect is described by police as approximately 20 years old, with tanned skin and a slim build. He is about 5’9″ tall and has short dark hair. He was wearing a light gray sweatshirt and matching sweatpants.
The Asperg police are asking witnesses who can provide relevant information to contact them at the telephone number 07141 15001-70 or by email. In particular, they are seeking those who came to the couple’s aid.
