Frankfurt: Two Anti-LGBTQ Hate Crimes Reported in Sachsenhausen

Two anti-LGBTQ+ incidents occurred this weekend in Frankfurt’s Sachsenhausen district, police reported on Sunday.

According to the police report, in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 31, 2026, a 25-year-old person was inside a nightclub on Heiligkreuzgasse. Around 2:40 a.m., near the bar, a 22-year-old man passed by and directed queer-phobic insults at them. The responding patrol filed a report and released the 22-year-old after completing police procedures.

On Saturday morning, May 30, 2026, at about 5:15 a.m., a 19-year-old person was waiting for a bus at the Elisabethenstraße stop. Suddenly, a group of eight or more individuals surrounded them, struck them, and subjected them to queer-phobic slurs. The harassment continued on the ride aboard the bus on line 63, until everyone got off at the Hauptwache. The assailants then fled in an unknown direction. The 19-year-old filed a report at a nearby police station.

The main perpetrator in the police report was described as: “male, of Black African phenotype, wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt, black shoes and a baseball cap.”

The police are asking witnesses who can provide information about the incidents to contact the number (069) 10-400 or any other police station.
