She Remained Queen of Football

After her active career, she remained devoted to football and was involved from 2011 to 2020 as a DFB coach in the women’s youth ranks—and she did so with notable success: With the U17 girls, she won four European Championship titles. The Instagram post does not reveal which illness Anouschka Bernhard suffered.

“We remember Anouschka Bernhard as an extraordinary footballer, a great and successful coach, but above all as a lovable person and a wonderful personality,” Heike Ullrich, the DFB vice president for women’s and girls’ football, said. “Anouschka leaves a lasting impact—on football pitches around the world and in the hearts of many people. We will never forget her.”
