Berliner Ensemble Launches Ticket Giveaway for Tilda Swinton Starting Today

Starting today, theater fans have a real shot at snagging tickets for Tilda Swinton’s solo performance at the Berliner Ensemble. To give as many people as possible a chance to see “Man to Man” (“Jacke wie Hose”), the theatre has launched a lottery. Interested patrons can register for free via the Berliner Ensemble app from November 5 through November 22. All available tickets will be drawn between November 23 and 27, and seat assignments are made automatically.

How many performances are there?

A total of eight performances are planned, with the first on November 9 and the final show on February 14, 2027. According to the Berliner Ensemble, the Berlin dates are the only mainland European performances. The production will later be shown in New York. Swinton returns to the stage after years of film work, including appearances in “The Room Next Door” and “Only Lovers Left Alive.”

What is it about?

“Man to Man” is by the German author and actor Manfred Karge. The play tells the story of a woman who, after her husband’s death, adopts his identity and occupation in 1930s Germany in order to avoid starving to death, according to the Berliner Ensemble.

How much do the tickets cost?

Ticket prices range from 10 to 124 euros depending on seating category. Each person may apply for up to two tickets. The theater aims to seat tickets next to each other wherever possible. When signing up for the lottery, you can indicate your preferred seating category. A theatre tip: “To increase your chances, you can select multiple seating groups and sign up for up to three different performances.”

How will the winners be notified?

People drawn for tickets will automatically receive a notification via the app. An email will also be sent. After that, winners have six hours to purchase the tickets.
