Two months after a violent assault on a transgender woman in Dresden, prosecutors filed charges against three men with German citizenship. The defendants, aged 20, 27 and 29, are accused of dangerous bodily injury, according to the public prosecutor’s office on Friday.
The suspects allegedly shoved, punched and repeatedly kicked a 45-year-old woman at Amalie-Dietrich-Platz at the end of August 2026 (TheColu.mn reported). The trans woman had reportedly been drinking alcohol with the men at first, but the mood later turned hostile.
Victim sustains nasal bone and cheekbone fractures
The victim sustained serious facial injuries, including a broken nasal bone and a fracture of the cheekbone, and required hospital treatment.
According to the prosecutors, the victim is a transgender person who is currently in the process of transitioning from male to female. Investigations indicate that the assault is believed to have been motivated by transphobia. By contrast, the allegation of robbery did not hold up under examination.
One of the suspects has confessed
The three suspects remain in pre-trial detention and have prior criminal records. The 29-year-old suspect was on probation at the time of the incident. He is the only one who has confessed to the act, while the other two deny the accusations.
The Dresden District Court will now decide on the admissibility of the indictment and the opening of main proceedings.
