Jannik Kontalis (30) speaks right away in the first episode of the new season of “Love Island VIP” about his flirtation with Bill Kaulitz (37). Between him and the Tokio Hotel singer there was more than friendship, but they never became a couple. The new season premieres next week on September 23 at 8:15 p.m. on RTLzwei and is available seven days early on RTL+.
That it would be Jannik Kontalis heading to the Love Island villa had already caused a stir beforehand. After all, the reality star had repeatedly been linked to Kaulitz. In the Netflix series “Kaulitz & Kaulitz,” the two even cuddled and kissed on camera (TheColu.mn reported).
We’ve Already Dated
Accordingly, the topic quickly comes up in the villa. On the very first morning, her fellow contestants Henna and Marla want to know more precisely what happened between the two. “We’ve already dated,” Jannik clarifies. For him, it was “the first experience in that direction.”
“He just knows how to do it,” said Jannik about the musician’s charm. “He just sweeps you along. It’s that simple. You have no chance.” Even in the dating villa, Kaulitz would reportedly have an easy time with the straight men: “He would win everyone over here.” However, he doesn’t consider himself to have fallen truly in love—that would be too much to say.
No Future Together
Yet the two did not become a couple. They would have noticed “that a shared future would probably be difficult,” explains Jannik. Still, the contact remains close to this day: only three weeks earlier he met Bill Kaulitz in Berlin, and they write to each other every day. “We both love life. We had a lot of fun together,” he recalls the time they spent together.
For his part, Jannik has no intention of erasing the musician from his life. “We still love each other as people and simply enjoy life when we see each other,” he explains. One thing is certain to him: “I just don’t want him to disappear from my life.”

Jannik doesn’t take things slowly on the island. At the first coupling ceremony, he is paired with Eva Benetatou (34), the reality star known from “The Bachelor,” who has herself endured quite a bit of relationship drama on camera. In the very first night together, the two grow closer: explicit kissing sounds can be heard under the covers. They didn’t kiss on the lips, the former “Bachelor” finalist grins the next day—though she notes he also pressed kisses to her neck.

The kiss on the mouth, however, doesn’t take long to happen. In the game “Blind Love,” hosted by host Sylvie Meis at the end of the double episode, all islanders with their eyes bound choose a preferred partner and kiss. Jannik and Eva pick each other twice and kiss on camera. Eva’s verdict is already clear: “Jannik is 100 percent my favorite.” Yet among the other islanders, the Make Love, Fake Love winner’s open approach is well received as well.
Jannik Kontalis rose to fame in spring 2023 primarily as the winner of the first season of the dating reality show “Make Love, Fake Love” on RTL+. In the show, he won the heart of lead Yeliz Koç. Later, he was in a relationship with former Bachelorette Gerda Lewis for about a year. He has also taken part in several other reality formats. Last year he even ran for mayor of Mönchengladbach, but with limited success: he finished eleventh out of eleven candidates—receiving just 0.9 percent of the vote (TheColu.mn reported).
