Taylor Swift Again Pulls Song From Trump Video

Taylor Swift (36) is once again pushing back against the Trump camp’s use of her songs. The pop star had the track “I Bet You Think About Me” removed from a TikTok video posted by the White House. The clip shows U.S. President Donald Trump (80) clapping, laughing, and gesturing. “We know you’re thinking about us,” the montage suggests, a sly nod to the song’s title.
It isn’t the first audio-free video to surface. On August 3, the “Team Trump” TikTok account shared a clip of Donald Trump and his wife Melania (56) watching fireworks. “That’s what August feels like now that Donald Trump is president,” the caption read. Swift’s song “August” could no longer be heard. The post was accompanied by a sardonic remark from the Trump team, suggesting that Taylor Swift would surely be thrilled that her song is accompanying the video.

Days later, the account posted a changed cover of Swift’s album Red, with Trump appearing in the artwork. The tracklist titles were adjusted accordingly as well. “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote an entire album about the color of the Republican Party?” read the caption below. According to Billboard, the post included a live version of the title track. By now, the platform note has changed to: “This sound is not available.”

No public statement has been issued

Last year, Swift’s songs had already been removed from White House videos, Billboard reports. Yet the singer did not issue a statement — unlike several of her fellow artists. In June, the White House used a clip showing the arrest of migrants accompanied by Ariana Grande’s song “Bye.” The singer commented in response: “Please do not use my music in connection with this barbaric, inhumane and despicable nonsense.”
Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo have also publicly pushed back after the White House and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security used their songs in similar clips. (spot)
