Photo Appeal: Can You Identify These Alleged Homophobic Attackers?

With the release of footage from a surveillance camera, Berlin’s Criminal Police are seeking two individuals who remain unidentified. They reportedly approached a 30-year-old man on Saturday, August 30, 2025, around 11 p.m. on the platform of the U6 at Alt-Mariendorf station, addressing him and subjecting him to homophobic insults, among other things, while he wore colorful clothing.

According to authorities, the two suspects then knocked him to the ground with pushes and blows to the head, and kicked him while he lay on the ground. The 30-year-old suffered hematomas and bruises to his upper body and limbs. A female witness and a male witness who tried to intervene are said to have been injured by punches and kicks from the suspects as well.

The Berlin Criminal Police are asking for information about the assault: Who recognizes the people pictured? Who can provide details about their residences or current whereabouts? Who observed anything suspicious at the relevant time? Who can offer additional useful tips about the incident or the suspects?

Tips should be directed to the Criminal Police of Police Directorate 4 (South) at Eiswaldtstraße 18 in Lankwitz, by phone at (030) 4664-473124 and by e-mail at . Witnesses can also contact the Berlin Police’s online reporting desk or any other police station.

There are ongoing reports from Berlin about anti-LGBTQ+ assaults, as the state police publicize hate crimes based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and these cases are relatively frequently brought to public attention. The police and the public prosecutor’s office in the capital have dedicated contacts for queer people. (pm)
