A new podcast is dedicating itself to the topic of wanting children and lesbian parenthood. “Mamas in der Mache” launches on August 5 on the major podcast platforms. The hosts, Lisa and Kate, accompany listeners on their own journey to parenthood—from early reflections to sperm donation and fertility clinics, through pregnancy and birth.
According to the announcement, the focus is not a pure advisory viewpoint, but a personal, in-the-process storytelling with all the hopes and uncertainties that come with it. The idea for the podcast arose from their own experiences: during their own journey to starting a family, they realized how difficult it can be to find answers to concrete questions, the two hosts explained.
New episode every two weeks
The podcast is not aimed only at queer people who want children, but also at listeners who are exploring family-building more broadly. Legal questions — such as stepchild adoption and the recognition of parenthood — that queer couples often encounter are to be addressed as well.
Lisa Ducret has worked as a multimedia journalist for the German press agency, and Kathleen Ducret brings a background in consulting and business analysis. As a German-French couple, they also plan to discuss cultural differences between both countries, for instance in pregnancy care, birth, and breastfeeding.
“Mamas in der Mache” will in the future appear every two weeks on Wednesdays and is also available on YouTube under the channel name @MamasInDerMache.
