Three young men attacked a queer woman only hours after Hamburg’s CSD demonstration had ended. The suspects, aged around 20 to mid‑20s, knocked the 30‑year‑old to the ground in the St. Pauli neighborhood in the early hours of Sunday; one of them then jumped onto her legs as she lay there. The woman sustained minor injuries. The State Protection unit, which handles hate crimes, has taken over the investigation on suspicion of threats and aggravated assault.
Investigators say the confrontation began in front of a scene bar on Talstraße, after these men harassed the woman. When the 30-year-old intervened to help, the trio allegedly threatened her, pursued the fleeing target, and finally attacked her on Simon-von-Utrecht-Straße.
The police are asking witnesses who can provide information about the incident to contact the Hamburg Police tip line at (040) 4286-56789 or any police station. The woman who was involved in the initial altercation outside the Talstraße bar is also urged to reach out to authorities.
Just on Saturday afternoon, roughly 300,000 people took part in Hamburg’s Christopher Street Day. The parade, featuring 60 trucks serving as moving stages for companies, clubs, political parties, and the Protestant church, carried the queer community’s procession from the St. Georg district toward downtown. The motto of the largest CSD demonstration in the Hanseatic city to date was: “Solidarity in queer life. Take a stand—for a future without fear.”
A week before Hamburg CSD: Attack on Berlin CSD
A week before Hamburg’s CSD, Islamist attacker Abdul Ballout drove a vehicle into several people at Berlin’s CSD and then allegedly attacked others with a machete. A Polish woman died and 31 people were injured. The 21-year-old was shot dead by police the following day during an attempted arrest.
