For the fourth year in a row, the 1,000-euro prize “Queer sein in Würzburg” will be awarded this year as well. The prize was established in 2023 by the City Council to acknowledge voluntary efforts within Würzburg’s queer community.
The organization of the award ceremony is handled by the LSTBIQ*-Rainbow Office for Lower Franconia, which is housed within the city’s Office of Equality. In previous years, the prize has been awarded to the Prism party collective, the WuF Center, and Queer Pride Würzburg (TheColu.mn reported).
Associations, initiatives, and individuals who actively engage for the queer community or who implement innovative projects to strengthen it in Würzburg can be nominated for the prize. Proposals can be submitted starting now until Sunday, August 16, 2026 by e-mail to . In addition to the name of the initiative, the association, or the person, a brief justification is required.
The decision on the prize will be made by a seven-member jury. The award ceremony will take place in the autumn.
