The police anticipate a peaceful progression of Christopher Street Day in Pirna. “In the past two years, the CSD has largely gone without incidents,” a police spokesperson said when asked. There are enough officers on site to safeguard the event. There are currently no indications of targeted disruptions. The exact number of officers deployed was not disclosed for tactical reasons.
The 15th CSD on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Pirna is under the motto: “Loud for Everyone Who Must Remain Silent.” Rights for queer people are under pressure worldwide; people are being persecuted, threatened, and silenced, the organizers said. “That is why we are loud—for all those who are not allowed to speak up. For everyone whose visibility is denied. For everyone whose very existence is politicized.” The CSD is not just a celebration, but a powerful statement in support of tolerance, diversity, and equality.
The queer street festival begins at 2:00 p.m. on the historic Market Square. Earlier, at 12:30 p.m., a feeder march will kick off on Gartenstraße.
In Pirna, the AfD has held the mayor’s office since 2024 with independent local politician Tim Lochner. In the city council, the far-right party is the strongest force. After his election, Lochner announced that there would be no rainbow flag raised at the town hall for the CSD and that gender-neutral language would be banned. He compared the rainbow flag to the swastika banner (TheColu.mn reported).
