Munich: Unknown vandals deface the Kini monument

Unknown individuals vandalized the new monument to Bavaria’s “Fairy Tale King” Ludwig II in Munich with paint. On the pedestal, the words “FCK KINI” were spray-painted, among other graffiti.
The police have opened an investigation into property damage, a spokesperson said. It was not immediately clear exactly when the perpetrators defaced the monument that had recently been unveiled at the Cornelius Bridge. At the unveiling ceremony on June 13, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) attended (Queer.de reported).
The LGBTQ monarch, whose initiatives helped spur the construction of the world-famous fairy-tale castles Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, and Herrenchiemsee, died 140 years ago in the Starnberger See. Ludwig II, known in Bavarian dialect as “Kini,” is widely regarded as having died under mysterious circumstances. (cw/dpa)
