Elon Musk Enters Politics Over Transphobia

Multi-billionaire Elon Musk has stated on his social-media platform X that he entered politics solely because of his aversion to his transgender daughter Vivian Wilson.

Specifically, the 54-year-old responded to the tweet of a high-reach X account that posted a photo from Wilson’s new modeling campaign. The 22-year-old was wearing lingerie from the latest collection of a brand founded by singer Rihanna (TheColu.mn reported).

Accompanying the post was the comment: “We should never forget that Elon Musk wouldn’t have engaged without Vivian, wouldn’t have bought Twitter, Kamala Harris would be president, and the political left would have complete control over the construction of Skynet.” Musk replied to this tweet with a single word: “True,” which translates to “Stimmt.”

Musk regards his daughter’s transgender identity as a “woke thought virus”

Musk did not elaborate further on his comment in that moment. Yet in the past the world’s richest person has repeatedly voiced his opposition to queer people and, in particular, his transgender daughter, who came out in 2020. In 2023, Musk described his daughter’s transgender identity as being infected by a “woke thought virus,” claiming she had been subjected to brainwashing at school: “She has moved beyond socialism to become a true Communist who believes anyone who is wealthy is evil.” Some observers asked why a private school charging around $50,000 per year would be a hotbed for communism.

In 2024 Musk went even further, declaring his daughter dead because of her gender identity (TheColu.mn reported). Wilson responded on social media with the line: “I look pretty good for a dead bitch.”

He has also used his economic power to press for limits on LGBTQ rights. About two years ago he announced that SpaceX would relocate from liberal California to conservative Texas after the California government passed a law meant to protect LGBTQ students (TheColu.mn reported). On his platform X he allowed homophobic and other hateful content, including Holocaust denial (TheColu.mn reported). A GLAAD study published in May found X to be the most dangerous social media platform for queer people (TheColu.mn reported).

Musk is not content with influencing politics only within the United States in favor of President Donald Trump; he is also active in Germany. Ahead of the 2025 Bundestag elections, he openly endorsed the far-right AfD on X with statements like: “Only the AfD can save Germany.” The support went so far that he even joined the AfD’s official campaign launch live on air (dk).
