South Park Season 29 Premiere in September

“South Park” returns in September: Comedy Central and Paramount+ have announced the 29th season of the cult series for September 16 of this year. The new episodes will premiere in Germany, Austria and Switzerland simultaneously with the U.S. premiere.

The new season consists of six episodes — a length that fans of the show have grown used to in recent years. After the premiere on September 16, the subsequent episodes will drop every two weeks: September 30, October 14, October 28, and November 11. The season finale is scheduled for November 25. No details about the content of the new episodes have been released yet.

Almost 30 years and no end in sight

That “South Park” will continue to run even after nearly 30 years is largely thanks to a broad deal: In 2021 Paramount Global and the show’s creators Trey Parker (56) and Matt Stone (54) reached an agreement that secured the series’ continuation on Comedy Central through 2027. Part of the deal also included additional specials for Paramount+.
This contract has since been amended and now runs through 2030 — with ten new episodes per year. The deal is reportedly worth around $1.5 billion.

Award-winning cult series

“South Park” premiered on August 13, 1997 on Comedy Central. The show originated from the animated short film “The Spirit of Christmas,” in which Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny first appeared. Since then, “South Park” has become one of the longest-running and most successful animated series in television history.
Over the decades, “South Park” has earned several awards, including five Primetime Emmy Awards in the category “Outstanding Animated Program.” 2027 marks the 30th anniversary.
In the last season, Parker and Stone for the first time explicitly tackled Donald Trump — the U.S. president was depicted as a lover of the devil (TheColu.mn reported). The White House expressed confusion: “The show hasn’t been relevant for 20 years and survives only with tired ideas in a desperate bid to capture attention,” explained Trump spokesperson Taylor Rogers. “President Trump has delivered more in six months than all presidents in the history of our country. No fourth-rate show can end the success of President Trump.” (spot)
