German Podcast Award: Bill and Tom Kaulitz Honored

The Tokio Hotel stars Bill and Tom Kaulitz are celebrating a special honor: their podcast “Kaulitz Hills – Mustard from Hollywood” was awarded in the Comedy & Entertainment category at the German Podcast Award 2026. The jury described the format as “one of the most influential comedy offerings today, with extraordinary reach and dynamism.” The judges particularly highlighted the authentic bond between the two 36-year-old twin brothers, which creates palpable closeness and a distinctive listening dynamic, combined with exclusive insights into life that sits between pop culture, the celebrity world, and everyday life in Los Angeles.
The German Podcast Award marked the first time the most influential voices in the German-speaking podcast landscape were recognized. The ceremony took place on Wednesday evening in Berlin. Across 24 categories, the standout podcasts in Germany and their creative minds—both in front of and behind the microphone—were celebrated.
These podcasts were also awarded
Among the big winners was the investigative podcast “Braune Kinderzimmer,” which earned two honors: “True Crime” and “Best Author.” The podcast follows journalist Angelique Geray as she went undercover for months within right-wing youth networks, documenting insights into radicalization, violent fantasies, and plotted attacks by young neo-Nazis.
Another two-time recipient was “House of Houmsi” by host and journalist Salwa Houmsi. The program won in the categories “Society & (Pop) Culture” and “One-Host Show.” In her podcast, Houmsi blends personal observations with debates on pop culture, politics, and societal developments.
“Die Peter Thiel Story” secured the awards “Podcast of the Year” and “Documentary.” The production examines the rise, influence, and controversies surrounding the openly gay tech billionaire Peter Thiel. “Take Me Späti” with Sara Arslan also took home two prizes: in the categories “Newcomer” and “Viral Moment.” With its setup between Berlin’s Späti culture (late-night convenience stores) and rotating guests from music, pop, and the internet, “Take Me Späti” stands as a prime example of a new generation of video podcasts that understand platform dynamics and consistently leverage them.
