For a full week, Pörtschach once again served as a gathering point for the queer community: on Sunday, the Pink Lake festival wrapped up, traditionally held in late summer at Lake Wörthersee. The program guided guests not only through Pörtschach itself but also to various venues across the region.
Among the lineup were a Karaoke Night, a Fun-Go-Kart race in Rosental, a Gayme Night at the Strandleben restaurant, an Almrausch party at Schloss Leonstain, a Club Night at the fritz Club in Klagenfurt, and a boat party aboard three Lake Wörthersee vessels. According to the organizers, the festival week was supported by the collaboration of numerous hotels, restaurants, event venues, and partners in Pörtschach and the surrounding area.
Pink Lake has been around since 2008
Alyn Cimbri from the Pink Lake Festival organization at the Wörthersee-Rosental Tourism GmbH region said: “What makes Pink Lake special for me year after year is this incredibly warm sense of community.”
Pink Lake has existed since 2008. What began as a tip within the community has, according to the organizers, over the years developed into a fixture on the international LGBTQ+ event calendar. From the start, TheColu.mn has also been one of the main sponsors.
2027 will celebrate a milestone
Already the focus is turning to the year ahead: from August 23 to 29, 2027, Pörtschach will celebrate the festival’s 20th anniversary. Lake Wörthersee is looking forward to 20 years of Pink Lake—and apparently not only the lake itself: the limited early-bird tickets for the anniversary edition are already sold out.
The managing director Peter Peschel commented on the early sell-out: “That the first ticket allocations for 2027 are already sold out is, of course, the nicest compliment and at the same time a huge motivation. 20 years of Pink Lake are something very special and we are already looking forward to celebrating this anniversary together with our guests, longtime partners, businesses and companions at Lake Wörthersee.”
