Gay Dior Designer Talks About Creating Taylor Swift’s Wedding Dress

After the secretly staged dream wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, both 36, the designer behind her bridal gown is speaking out for the first time about how it came together. Jonathan Anderson, 41, Dior’s openly gay creative director, describes his collaboration with the pop superstar as remarkably personal—and deeply emotional.

According to a note from Swift’s spokesperson, both the singer and the NFL star wore tailored Christian Dior Haute Couture looks to their July 3 ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York, with Anderson coordinating the designs closely with the couple. For him, it was also the first couture wedding dress he created for a globally renowned star.

The wedding looks were finished with custom shoes from Christian Louboutin, and Swift wore jewelry from Cartier. The outfits were conceived in Dior’s haute couture ateliers on Paris’s Avenue Montaigne.

In the months leading up to the ceremony, Swift repeatedly wore Dior — including a bright yellow Lady Dior bag on a father–daughter outing with her dad, Scott Swift, and later a black Dior bag at a dinner in New York. In hindsight, fans view these appearances as clues to the close collaboration with the French fashion house.

Taylor Swift reportedly walked down the aisle to her own song

New details about the ceremony have since emerged. Us Weekly reports that Taylor Swift walked down the extra-long main aisle at Madison Square Garden to a string quartet version of her 2008 hit “Love Story.” Both she and Travis Kelce were visibly emotional as they spoke their vows.
“A vow that reflected how they’d met and the journey they’d shared up to this moment,” one source told the magazine. Another added that Kelce cried more than Swift. In their private vows, both shared anecdotes that many of the wedding guests hadn’t heard before.
The wedding took place in a transformed Madison Square Garden, which for the evening became an enchanted garden: roses, lush greenery, and a canopy of tall trees created a dreamlike setting. Taylor Swift’s brother Austin served as “Man of Honor,” and Travis Kelce’s brother Jason acted as best man. The ceremony was officiated by actor Adam Sandler. (spot)
