Felix Heller, known for “Operetta for Two Gay Tenors” and “Flush — A Club Musical,” debuts a new solo evening with “Piep Show” on the stage of the BKA Theater in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. The singer isn’t alone in the spotlight: he is accompanied by a piano, a cello, a flute, a clarinet, and a saxophone.
The performance unfolds a narrative of nightingale moments, swan songs, and paradise birds. At its center lies the question of why diversity isn’t a fashion trend but a life force. Musically, the “Piep Show” travels between ABBA, Karat, musical theatre, chanson, and new songs.
Featherlight Through Genres and Emotional States
At times glamorous, at others comic, and sometimes moving in surprising ways, the evening flits through a spectrum of moods. It’s about birds, about being with birds, and about bird-talk — and it’s certainly not your run‑of‑the‑mill entertainment.
Felix Heller was born in Potsdam and in 2015 completed his studies in Speech Art and Singing at the University of Music Stuttgart with distinction. In addition to numerous programs on stage as well as in radio and television, he also works as a moderator and master of ceremonies. He primarily sings with his pianist Michael Lieb and the Metropol Orchestra, which he co-founded.
At the Komische Oper Berlin, Heller worked with Barrie Kosky as a directing intern. He also teaches opera singers at conservatories in Berlin and Frankfurt. His onstage experience includes appearances at the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and the Friedrichsbau Stuttgart. He has collaborated with the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the Brandenburgische Symphoniker, the Staatsorchester Frankfurt, and the Neue Preußische Philharmonie.
