Saarland State Government Joins Pride Parade with Its Own Vehicle

At the Christopher Street Day (CSD) SaarLorLux in Saarbrücken, the Saarland state government is once again sending a visible message in support of queer people’s rights. For the fourth year in a row, it will participate in the demonstration with its own float, according to the state chancellery.

The event this year carries the motto “Yes; I want to be in the Constitution! Article 3+ now!” A call to amend the equality clause in the Basic Law to protect sexual and gender identity. The LGBTQ+ parade kicks off on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the state parliament.

“Saarland stands firmly for a community that excludes no one,” declared Prime Minister Anke Rehlinger (SPD). “Diversity is not a sideshow, but part of our democratic basic order. Those who attack people because of their identity oppose these core values. That’s why we are taking a visible stand at the CSD.”

Social Minister Magnus Jung (SPD) also highlighted the political significance of the CSD. In times of social tension, the event sends a clear message of human dignity and respect. The rights of queer people belong at the heart of society.

In addition to participating in the parade, the Social Ministry will operate a stand from the State Democracy Center on the CSD mile. (mize)
