State Secretary for Families Janosch Littig (Greens) presented to the state government on Tuesday the third report on the implementation and updating of the state action plan “Rhineland-Palatinate Under the Rainbow — Acceptance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and non-binary people” (PDF). The report covers the period 2021 through the end of 2025 and documents the measures of the state government as well as collaboration with the queer community in Rhineland-Palatinate.
“The state action plan is a central instrument of acceptance and democracy policy. It combines a clear political stance with concrete action,” Littig explained. “Given the rising anti-queer hostility, it is crucial that the protection of minorities and the strengthening of acceptance are firmly anchored in the work of the state government. Those who attack queer people attack our democracy.” He pointed out that acceptance, diversity, and the protection of minorities are not side issues, but “the core of our liberal society.”
According to the report, Rhineland-Palatinate pursues acceptance policy across departments. The document outlines implemented and ongoing measures in education, youth services, family, care, health, police, justice, as well as digital democracy education. The inventory is complemented by a look ahead at further necessary projects named by the involved associations. A central focus of the report is addressing queer-hostility and hate-crime.
The state government has taken note of the third implementation and updating report and has simultaneously tasked the Ministry of Family with continuing the state action plan “Rhineland-Palatinate Under the Rainbow.” The state action plan remains “a fixed component of the human rights and acceptance policy of the Rhineland-Palatinate government,” the state said.
