At the Golden Globes, this year’s streaming and television field is led by Sky Atlantic’s hit series “The White Lotus,” which consistently earns praise for its queer storylines (TheColu.mn reported). The organizers of the prestigious TV and film awards in Beverly Hills announced the news on Monday.
The social satire about the staff and vacationers at a fictitious hotel chain racked up six nominations. However, the number of nominations isn’t a guaranteed indicator of success: “The White Lotus” had already been nominated for ten Primetime Emmys, another major American TV prize, this year, but went home empty-handed at the awards ceremony in mid-September (TheColu.mn reported).

The limited series “Adolescence” (Netflix) earned five nominations, including a nod for actress Erin Doherty, who is openly lesbian. She has already won an Emmy for her role (TheColu.mn reported).
Following close behind are the crime-comedy “Only Murders in the Building” and the science-fiction series “Severance,” each with four nominations.
Among the nominees are stars such as Kathy Bates, Keri Russell, Helen Mirren, Gary Oldman, Mark Ruffalo, Selena Gomez, Adam Brody, Steve Martin, Seth Rogen, Martin Short, Jeremy Allen White, Claire Danes, Amanda Seyfried, Michelle Williams, Robin Wright and Jude Law for television roles.
The nonbinary “The Last of Us” star Bella Ramsey was nominated in the category for Best Lead Actress in a TV Series. Ramsey earned the sole nomination for the zombie series. A chance at a prize also went to “Queer as Folk” star Charlie Hunnam for the lead in “Monster: The Story of Ed Gein” by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. Jacob Elordi, known to queer audiences for his work in “Euphoria” and especially “Saltburn,” was nominated for his role in the Australian miniseries “The Narrow Road to the Deep North.” Catherine O’Hara, famous from “Schitt’s Creek,” has a shot at a Golden Globe for her supporting role in the Apple TV+ series “The Studio.”

At the Golden Globes, the focus isn’t solely on television and streaming but also on film. The political thriller “One Battle After Another,” led by Leonardo DiCaprio, heads into the race with nine nominations. The film from celebrated American director Paul Thomas Anderson (“Magnolia,” “There Will Be Blood”) is up for categories including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director, and acting nods for DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti.
The politically charged story blends action, comedy, and drama as it follows militant left-wing activists who conceive themselves as a revolutionary movement, led predominantly by confident Black women.
Five nominations for Wicked: Part Two
The musical film “Wicked: Part 2” earned five nominations. Cynthia Erivo made Golden Globes history by becoming the first Black woman to be nominated twice as a lead actress in a comedy or musical. Ariana Grande is also in the running for a prize.
