A year after the German premiere of the Michael Jackson musical in Hamburg, the story of the “King of Pop” continues to captivate audiences. To date, more than 700,000 tickets have been sold for the show, Stage Entertainment announced. The lead performers—Benét Monteiro as MJ, Oxa (alternating MJ), and Prince Damien portraying the younger Michael—have extended their engagements and will remain with the production into the new season.
There are already long-term plans in motion that extend beyond 2026, including a workshop to train future MJ performers. “Michael Jackson was a once-in-a-century artist. We face the special challenge of finding talent who can honor him in their own distinctive way,” said Casting Director Ralf Schaedler.
“MJ — The Michael Jackson Musical” traces the genesis of Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous World Tour and, through flashbacks, offers insights into his childhood, adolescence, and the climb to superstardom. The musical had its world premiere in February 2022 in New York and is also being staged in London.
