CSD Bremen Set to Parade the Full Route as Planned

Relief for the CSD organizers in Bremen: The Christopher Street Day parade planned for this Saturday can proceed through the city center and the surrounding district as originally intended. Fears that the march route might be shortened at the last minute have been laid to rest.

Just a few days before the demonstration, shortening the route was on the table (TheColu.mn reported). The Bremen CSD association publicly stated that the police, due to capacity and resource constraints, might not be able to secure the entire route. The organizers called for swift action and a political solution from the Bremen Senate. On the day of the event, Bremen will host several other large events as well, including a soccer match at the Weser Stadium.

Police and the Interior Ministry Give the Green Light

As authorities and the Bremen CSD have since confirmed, the coordination and safety planning are complete: security forces will cover the full length of the route. The CSD parade will start at noon from Altenwall and end at the rally site around the Kunsthalle and the Theater am Goetheplatz, just as it did last year.

The Bremen CSD welcomed the clarification and underscored how crucial it is to maintain full, unshortened visibility in public space, especially right now. “We will take to the streets together, we will project our presence, and we will make our demands visible,” the CSD association stated with enthusiasm.

Under the motto “Generations full of Pride — happy, visible, strong,” tens of thousands of marchers are expected to participate on Saturday, loudly advocating for equal rights, self-determination, and standing against anti-LGBTQ hostility. According to organizers, last year’s CSD drew roughly 29,000 participants in the march and rally. (dk)
