A 13-year-old girl who wore a rainbow-colored bracelet and a rainbow-colored phone case was subjected to queerphobic insults and assaulted in Neu‑Anspach, a town in the German state of Hesse.
According to the Westhessen Police Headquarters, the incident occurred Wednesday around 9:30 a.m. at the railway station in the Hausen‑Arnsbach district, when three unknown teenagers taunted her because of the Pride accessories. One of them then punched the 13‑year‑old in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The attackers reportedly fled on e-scooters in an unknown direction.
The offenders were also minors
The youths were all described by the police as male, roughly 1.75 meters tall, 16 to 17 years old, and according to initial information had a “West Asian appearance.” The teenager accused of insulting the girl reportedly had short black hair and a light mustache, and was wearing a dark blue tracksuit along with a pink Gucci baseball cap.
The investigation, as is customary in hate crimes, has been taken over by the police’s State Protection unit. Tips can be reported to the Usingen Police Station at (06081) 9208-0.
