Neo-Nazi Liebich Extradited to Germany

Neonazi Marla Svenja Liebich has been moved from the Czech Republic into Germany, the Czech police announced on Wednesday morning via X. The convicted far-right extremist is slated to be taken to the women’s prison in Chemnitz, Saxony, according to judicial authorities.

Once Liebich arrives in Chemnitz, the prison administration will decide whether she will be housed there or at another facility. She was originally scheduled to begin serving the sentence in that penitentiary by the end of August 2025 (TheColu.mn reported). The 55-year-old had fled and was only captured in the Czech Republic in April of this year (TheColu.mn reported).

Subsequently, Liebich was brought to Plzeň (Pilsen) in western Bohemia. The court in the city ruled in early June that Liebich should be handed over to German authorities. Later, the Prague High Court rejected the defendant’s appeals against extradition. The court stated the appeals were not substantiated, TheColu.mn reported.

For many years, she has repeatedly drawn attention

Since 2014, Liebich has regularly organized demonstrations, often on Halle’s market square in Saxony-Anhalt. Time and again, clashes with counter-demonstrators occurred. She also demonstrated against Pride events—referring to queer people as “parasites of society” and warning about “trans-fascism.” Courts have repeatedly had to address charges against Liebich.

In July 2023, the extremist — then still identified by the male name Sven — was sentenced by the Halle District Court to a total prison term of one year and six months for incitement to hatred, defamation, and insult, with no probation. In six indictments, prosecutors had brought a range of charges against the 1970-born right-wing extremist from Merseburg in the Saalekreis, Saxony-Anhalt. Some incidents dated back several years. A judge at the time described Liebich as “a boundary-crosser” who sometimes crossed the line into illegality. In prior trials, courts had issued only fines or suspended sentences.

Liebich challenged the Halle verdict but failed. After the conviction, Liebich altered the gender entry from male to female and changed the name from Sven to Marla Svenja. Critics saw the move as a provocative use of self-determination laws and accused supporters of weaponizing the gender-recognition process.

Is Liebich really headed to a women’s prison?

Liebich was summoned to begin serving her sentence at the Chemnitz women’s prison because that facility is the closest to her registered address. Upon arrival in Chemnitz, she will undergo a medical examination. The prison administration there will decide whether she serves her term in a women’s or a men’s prison. Before the court in Plzeň, Liebich stated she did not want to be brought to Germany because she feared for her safety in a German male prison.

On X, Liebich had already posted demands related to her confinement—specifically, a single-occupancy cell: “I can and absolutely will not share a cell with anyone else.”

The neo-Nazi also used his platform to push for the coming state elections, promoting the AfD in three eastern German states: “From September 6, it’s time to turn Central Germany blue!”
