Florence Gibson, frontwoman of her queer rock band Scorpio Season, has a shot at opening for her idol on their European tour. But before the tour can begin, the band urgently needs a new drummer.
With Luca Walsh, the right drummer seems to have been found. However, Luca and Florence had slept with each other only the night before. What began as a one‑night encounter could turn into a complicated situation for the entire band. This is the premise Maisie Bell explores in her novel Scorpio Season.
A Secret Goes on Tour
To avoid derailing the band’s momentum, Florence and Luca decide to keep their shared night private. But the looming tour makes it hard for them to keep their distance.
For weeks they spend time in cramped quarters. Between drives to the next show and a shared hostel room with one bed too few, the two draw closer. Soon every song feels like a love song to them.
“Scorpio Season” marks Maisie Bell’s debut in the New Adult genre. The author was born in Lower Saxony and studied clinical psychology and psychotherapy there. Her favorites include peppermint tea, 1990s romantic comedies, and tangled queer characters.
Bell wrote the novel in English. The German edition is now available as a translation by Anne-Sophie Ritscher in a paperback with a beautiful color-edged design in the first edition, as well as an E-book and an audiobook from LYX. A preview is available on the publisher’s page. (dd/pm)
