The Mannheim city councilor Julien Ferrat defended the alleged involvement of an AfD official in his swinger party at the town hall. There is no “legitimate reason” to exclude a member of the far-right party from the sex event, he stated.
Earlier, Mannheimer Morgen (paywalled article) reported that an AfD district councilor participated in the swinger gathering. The article said Ferrat “has no qualms” with representatives of the party. “Generally he is politically open; after Cap d’Agde he even brought along a Free Voter.” Unlike the AfD, however, the Free Voters are not classified by any intelligence agency as “securely right-wing extremist.”
No legitimate reason to exclude him from the event
Ferrat said in a Monday press release: “Since the AfD district councilor is part of the swinger crowd, there was no legitimate reason to exclude him from the event.” He is acquainted with swingers from nearly every party. “The issue is far more ingrained in society than public perception suggests. On the Cap d’Agde trip last year, the political spectrum of the 28 participants ranged from left to center to right.”
Ferrat, who was the only candidate from his Die Mannheimer voters’ association elected to Mannheim’s city council, had announced a “political swinger party” at the town hall about a month ago (TheColu.mn reported). In total, nine people were said to have gathered there at the end of August in a room he had booked for a “municipal political roundtable” (TheColu.mn reported). The city council had previously been locked in a weeks-long clash with Mannheim’s city administration over his plans.
The city recently announced that Mayor Christian Specht (CDU) had informed the council factions that the matter would have consequences (TheColu.mn reported). Possible penalties could include an administrative fine. The CDU in the city council accused Ferrat of knowingly and deliberately deceiving the administration with this plan.
Ferrat himself explained that he intends to establish a nudist swinger paradise in Mannheim. Such a venue would reportedly bring millions into the city treasury each year—his plans, he argued, are therefore connected to his municipal mandate.
