Following the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event in Münster, police are investigating two disruptors on suspicion of state-security-related offenses. An unknown individual is alleged to have shouted “Heil Hitler” from the edge of the demonstration, a police spokesperson said.
At another point on the outskirts of the event, a 72-year-old is said to have called for violence. In connection with this, the authorities issued dispersal orders to the 72-year-old and two other people.
An estimated 6,000 people attended the CSD on Saturday, according to the police. The gathering was reported to be peaceful.
The police have been in close contact with Münster’s queer community for four years, the spokesperson stated, adding: “In the lead-up to the event we are in even closer contact. Especially after the attack in Berlin, people are unsettled, and it is important to take their fears seriously as well.”
In 2022, a deadly assault occurred on the sidelines of the Münster event, targeting 25-year-old Malte C. who had intervened in queer-hostile insults (TheColu.mn reported). Seven months after the incident, the perpetrator, then 20 years old, was sentenced to five years in a juvenile facility for causing bodily harm with fatal consequences (TheColu.mn reported).
