Jennifer Kubach is mounting a bid as an independent candidate for mayor of Linkenheim-Hochstetten, a municipality in the Karlsruhe district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. She stands among the few transgender women in Germany who have sought public office. In her application, she emphasizes that the focus should not be on her personal life, but on her professional qualifications. “I don’t want my biography to define me,” Kubach says. Her candidacy should also encourage other people to engage in civic life or political activity.
Kubach brings roughly 45 years of professional experience from one of Germany’s largest energy companies, where she worked in communications, project management, and in building up the company’s Renewable Energy division. She has also long volunteered as the founder and chair of the Diversity Events association, which works to strengthen social cohesion and diversity. The association is best known for the Diversity Ball Night in Karlsruhe, an event that Kubach initiated and which will take place for the second time on October 10, 2026.
Through her candidacy, Kubach aims to foster a citizen-centered administration, transparent decision-making, and solid finances. Her goals also include expanding rail-based public transit to Graben-Neudorf and establishing a community medical center in the municipality. The mayoral election in Linkenheim-Hochstetten is scheduled for September 27, 2026.
