Normally, when the Kaulitz twins roll into a place, it’s “The Party has arrived.” But after landing in Cochem on the Moselle, Bill and Tom (36) first have something else on the agenda: a journey into the Middle Ages.
In the new season of their series “Kaulitz & Kaulitz,” which dropped on Netflix just a few days ago, the twins head to Rhineland-Palatinate, specifically Reichsburg Cochem. “That’s near Bielefeld and Koblenz,” says Bill. Between Cochem and Bielefeld lies about 300 kilometers. Tom describes the town as “idyllic, pretty, and insanely beautiful.” The excursion is a gift to Werner, their mother’s partner — a big knight-enthusiast.
On a yacht along the Moselle?
It all starts Kaulitz-style: on a Moselle river cruise, the brothers, who grew up near Magdeburg, toast with their mother and her partner Werner with a glass. Tom calls the trip a “coffee cruise,” and Bill asks whether yachts sometimes dock here. Tom quickly places a captain’s hat on his head and takes the wheel himself. A test shows: yes, the horn works. Instead of the Hollywood Hills in their Los Angeles adopted home, they can gaze out at the rolling ridges of the Moselle Valley.
Arriving at Reichsburg, Werner can’t stop glowing. Tom is visibly impressed—even though, as he later says, he wouldn’t refuse if someone offered to rent the castle to him. What he doesn’t yet know is what awaits inside the fortress walls.
The castle guide greets the Tokio Hotel stars (Durch den Monsun) not with champagne, but with a tour, a depth of historical knowledge — and a flood of facts. It becomes clear in short order: the brothers’ tastes don’t quite align with the guide’s.
Really wild stuff ahead
But after sunset, the real action begins: there’s a party in the castle cellar. “I’m picturing it as properly rowdy, where everyone really lets loose, so drunk that no one can walk, and it gets truly wild,” says Tom. The anticipation is unmistakable.
The four visitors don medieval costumes—and inside the party cellar, they are among the few who do. The guests quickly cover the moment with good humor. “If you haven’t recognized me, I am the castle whore,” Bill declares—adorned with a crown and veil. His mother adds, “And I’m the mother who can’t quite keep a grip on her child.”

Tom lays out his motive plainly: “The only reason I’m sticking around is that I could still be knighted.” The mood climbs as the liquor comes out, and dancing and singing soon follow suit.
The highlight comes last: in Cochem, Tom and Werner are crowned knights in the Reichsburg’s cellar after a drinking duel. “From now on you can call me Sir Tom, only Sir Tom,” Tom tells his brother. “Castle whore” Bill counters at the end of the trip: “You’re a knight, and I’m going to set my sights on the custodian next.”
