Magdeburg: Deliberate vandalism damages windows at LSVD+ Rainbow Café

Unknown assailants heavily damaged the windows of the “Rainbow Café” in Magdeburg during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. This was reported by LSVD+ Saxony-Anhalt, which operates the venue on Guerickestraße. “Our windows were damaged. Our stance was not,” LSVD+ wrote on social media.

Andreas Bösener, a member of the state board, spoke to the Volksstimme about a “anti-queer attack.” In an Instagram video, the association urged messages of solidarity to be placed on the windows, for instance in the form of stickers. “We want to send a signal. We stay visible. We stay here.”

Therefore, since Friday the “Loud & Proud” stickers from the state’s Center for Women’s and Equality Policy have also become part of the solidarity action, sending a visible message together with many others.

In Hamburg, a café responded almost word-for-word to queer-hostile vandalism: “Hate has destroyed our flags, not our stance,” wrote Uhrlaub Café after several rainbow flags were forcibly removed (TheColu.mn reported).
