Following the suspected attack on Berlin’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade, which left at least one person dead, investigators publicly issued a 21-year-old suspect to the public as a person of interest. Berlin police warned on Sunday not to engage with the alleged Islamist suspect Abdul B. He is described as potentially armed and dangerous. Sixteen more people were injured Saturday evening in the Tiergarten, three of them critically (TheColu.mn reported).
The police and the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office asked for help in locating the fugitive suspect in a statement published on the online platform X. The man is said to be of slim build, about 1.90 meters tall, with black hair, the police explained. They posted an online photo of the suspect.

Abdul B. is suspected of injuring several people with a moving vehicle in the Tiergarten area around 10 p.m. on Saturday, the police said. “One or more people” had then left the vehicle. Additionally, there may have been “multiple people injured by stabbing weapons.”

Merz calls attack on CSD “an attack on our society”
After the assault, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) offered support to the state authorities. A government spokesman said Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) was informed immediately after the incident.
“What a despicable act in Berlin,” Merz wrote on X. “Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world celebrated peacefully at Christopher Street Day. They wanted us to treat each other well and with tolerance. This is an attack on our society.”

According to a government spokesperson, Merz is in close contact with Dobrindt and is being kept continually informed by the security authorities. The federal interior minister remains in constant contact with the Berlin authorities.
“This cowardly, despicable attack on peaceful celebrants shakes me to the core,” Dobrindt stated. “My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone who witnessed this. I thank the emergency responders. We will do everything we can to quickly uncover the circumstances of this horrific act and bring those responsible to justice.”
Federal Prosecutor’s Office in contact with Berlin authorities
In the wake of the Berlin CSD attack, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office is in touch with the local investigators on the ground, a spokesperson for the Karlsruhe-based office told the German press agency. The General Federal Prosecutor has not, however, taken over the investigations in this case.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office is Germany’s top prosecuting authority. It can, among other things, take on Islamist-mmotivated terrorism cases and may assume cases of particular significance.
