Unknown individuals have stolen a rainbow flag from a REWE supermarket on Dorfstraße in Emlichheim, police reported on Thursday.
The theft, according to the police report, occurred between 8:00 p.m. on June 20 and 7:00 p.m. on June 21. The suspects toppled the flagpole located along Dorfstraße to the side, allowing the rainbow flag to be removed and subsequently stolen.
Witnesses who can provide pertinent information are asked to contact the Lingen Police Department at (0591) 87-0.
REWE has displayed rainbow flags and stickers at the entrances of its stores for many years, usually around Christopher Street Day (TheColu.mn reported). The campaign was originally launched by the company’s LGBTQ employee network. (mize)
