Frankfurt, Germany: Homophobic Attack Injures Two Gay Men in Park; Police Seek Help

According to police, on Wednesday afternoon in Grüneburg Park in Frankfurt am Main, there was an apparently anti-homosexual assault on two gay men. The suspect fled the scene undetected.
The two victims were sitting around 1:25 p.m. on a park bench in a area of the park that borders the Palmengarten and the Westend campus of Goethe University. Suddenly, a man approached them and told them to leave the park. In addition, he directed homophobic insults at them.
After the two refused to leave, the man struck them and continued kicking one of them after he had fallen to the ground. The two men were injured by the attack. The attacker fled on foot toward the Palmengarten as bystanders intervened.
The police released a description of the suspect: He is believed to be 40 to 50 years old, with a “Southern European appearance,” grey hair, and a grey beard. He reportedly wore black athletic clothing and had been traveling by bicycle.
The police are now asking for help: Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact the police at (069) 755-10300 or at any police station.

Just last weekend, Frankfurt police reported a queer-phobic incident at a commuter train station, where two men were subjected to anti-LGBTQ insults and then physically attacked.
