AfD Platform: Accuses Queer People of Destroying Normalcy

The AfD in Saxony-Anhalt adopted its election program on Saturday at a state party conference in Magdeburg for the state election on September 6. The program’s focus, besides a sweeping tightening of migration policy and a patriotic cultural policy, is above all the rejection of queer people, whom it claims secretly aim to destroy the traditional normality.

Literally, the 156-page “governing program” published on the party’s homepage states: “We will place the family, consisting of a father, mother, and as many children as possible, back at the center of political and social thinking and action.” The program complains that “sexual deviations” are allegedly currently advertised more openly than the normal family of man and woman from which children arise.

Money for “Tradition” instead of “Rainbow Ideology”

For these reasons, funding for projects supporting queer people should be banned in the future. Instead of “Rainbow ideology,” state money should flow into “religion, tradition, and (real) culture.” The state should also behave in a worldview- and politically neutral manner and profess “the normative normality of society”—queer people would thus stand outside this “normality.” Furthermore, it says that clubs should only receive support in the future if they do not serve “the perverse rainbow agenda.”

In the program, queer people are also broadly accused of secretly wanting to wreck society: The “LQBTQ movement” (sic) “uses the alleged representation of the interests of non-heterosexual people as a mere pretext to destroy the traditional normality that we need for the healthy development of our society.”

Therefore, countermeasures in schools are deemed necessary. The “normal family consisting of a man and a woman, from which children emerge,” should be presented as a role model. “The agenda of the LGBTQ lobby runs counter to this. We will therefore issue a corresponding decree to ensure that no rainbow flag is displayed by official channels,” the AfD program states. Elsewhere it says that it rejects “early sexualization and any indoctrination of preschoolers and primary school students in the sense of deviant forms of sexuality.” It also calls for restricting or blocking access to hormone therapies and puberty blockers for minors. Transgender identity is described as a “mental disorder.”

Leftist “subversion” according to the AfD of traditional family and gender roles

Apart from queer people, “perverse-left” individuals are also a problem: “The perverse-left, radically feminist and individualistic spirit not only undermines traditional family and gender roles, it denies and criminalizes biological facts itself,” the party claims. The term “subversion” used by the AfD directly references the era of National Socialism: “Subversion” was intensively used by the Nazi party to discredit, persecute, and kill people and groups who did not fit its ideology of the ‘people’s community.’

The AfD in Saxony-Anhalt is classified by the constitutional protection agency as firmly right-wing extremist. Yet it could become a clear powerhouse in the elections according to polls—latest readings place the AfD between 38 and 40 percent. AfD top candidate Ulrich Siegmund has even set a target of “45 percent plus X” for his party, which could be enough for an absolute majority of seats. “Anything is possible, we just have to do it,” Siegmund said. State party leader Martin Reichardt, who repeatedly stirs up sentiment against the “fanatized queer mob,” told attendees at the party conference: “We are the ram of the people.”
