The international premiere of the biopic “Michael” about pop icon Michael Jackson is slated for April 10 in Berlin. Producer Graham King announced the date during Munich’s Film Week, with Universal Pictures confirming the plan. Cast members and the filmmakers are expected to attend the Berlin premiere, which will launch a multi-day program of events and fan gatherings surrounding the adaptation of Jackson’s life.
The official theatrical release is set for April 23, Universal says. Jaafar Jackson (29) stars in the title role; for the Michael Jackson nephew, it’s his first big-screen role. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”), with production led by Graham King, who previously earned an Oscar for the music-biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” about Freddie Mercury.
The production team described the project as telling a “story beyond the music” that traces Jackson’s path from child star to global icon. It emphasizes his creative drive, which relentlessly pushed him to become the world’s greatest entertainer. Paris Jackson publicly distanced herself from the project. On Instagram, Michael Jackson’s daughter said she was not involved in the biopic, Rolling Stone reported in September 2025.
