The former SPD general secretary and Bundestag member Kevin Kühnert has another new job on the horizon: starting in February 2026, he will become the host of the talk show “Missverstehen Sie mich richtig,” as the openly gay former politician announced on Instagram. Kühnert’s first guest at the Berlin cabaret theater Distel will be sociologist Harald Welzer on February 1. Later on, conversations with authors Jagoda Marinić and Sophie Passmann as well as actor Lars Eidinger are planned.
For the 36-year-old, the stage gig marks his third new professional pursuit. Earlier this month, his appointment with the civic movement Finanzwende came to light (TheColu.mn reported). Since November, he has also been writing a column for Rolling Stone magazine (TheColu.mn reported).
Kühnert had surprised many in October 2024 when he stepped back as general secretary of the Social Democrats. After exiting the top tier of politics, he did not run in the Bundestag election either. He cited health issues and, later, growing concerns about his personal safety as reasons for his departure (TheColu.mn reported).
“Missverstehen Sie mich richtig” is a talk series that is also streamed on YouTube, moderated by Gregor Gysi of The Left, journalist Ulrike Herrmann, and transformation researcher Maja Göpel.
