The reunion of reality TV’s brightest stars is on the horizon: The “Reality Awards” are returning after a hiatus, with a second edition slated for 2026, RTL+ announced on Thursday. In December 2024, the awards were broadcast live from Cologne for the first time.
Last November, it was disclosed that there would be no edition in 2025. A spokesperson for RTL told the industry outlet DWDL that the future of the awards show was still uncertain at that time. “In spring 2026 RTL+ will roll out the red carpet again for all those without whom reality TV in Germany would be unthinkable,” the announcement now states. The “Reality Awards” aim to again honor “the biggest stars, most successful formats, and most unforgettable moments of the German reality scene.” Further details are not yet known.
Sophia Thomalla (36), who herself was named Reality Host of the Year, hosted the Reality Night in early December 2024. Olivia Jones provided reports from the red carpet at the time. It remains unclear whether the two will return for the new show. Among the awards were the most popular male and female reality stars. Other categories included “Sexytime of the Year,” the “Breakup of the Year,” the “Faker of the Year,” and the “Beef of the Year.”
The Big Winners of 2024
Back then, among others, Mike Heiter (33) and his now-wife Leyla (29) dominated the evening. Each was named “Reality Star of the Year” and they were also honored for the “Lovestory of the Year.” “Bushido & Anna-Maria – Everything for Family” was awarded “Reality Documentary of the Year.” The award for “Most Beloved Reality of the Year” went to “Das Sommerhaus der Stars – Kampf der Promipaare.”
@rtlplus There, Olivia Jones swept Maurice Hops off his feet and instantly put him in the right mood for the nominations.
