German Euphoria: RTL+ Series Euphorie Premieres in Cologne

Over the weekend, the cast of the new RTL+ series “Euphorie” celebrated its premiere in Cologne. The cast, together with Inga Leschek (45), RTL’s head of content strategy, greeted fans at the Cinenova cinema and introduced the show. There, they screened the first three episodes of “Euphorie” for the audience. All eight episodes of the coming-of-age series will be released on Thursday on RTL+.

The German adaptation of the Israeli series “Euphoria” had already been unveiled in July 2025 as part of the Neues Deutsches Fernsehen lineup at the Munich Film Festival (TheColu.mn reported).

What the Show Is About

“Euphorie” follows Mila, a 16-year-old girl (Derya Akyol, 25), who, after a stay in a youth psychiatric facility, finds herself at odds with the entire world. Back at her old school, she is confronted by her classmate Basti (Kosmas Schmidt, 25), who had circulated a sex video of her before her time at the clinic. Mila then dives into a love triangle with rising actor Jannis (Eren M. Güvercin, 23) and Ali (Sira Anna-Faal, 24) — a girl she fell for while in the clinic.

Apart from the young stars, there are numerous guest appearances. Reality stars Gigi Birofio (26) and Filip Pavlovic (31) appear in “Euphorie.” Comedian and host Aurel Mertz (36) and influencer Jasmina Kuhnke (43) also appear in the series.

The US adaptation of “Euphoria,” with Zendaya (29) in the lead role, has earned numerous awards. Among them, the actress won an Emmy Award. Trans actress Hunter Schafer used the series as a career launchpad. She landed a lead role in the highly anticipated science-fiction miniseries “Blade Runner 2099” (TheColu.mn reported). The show is slated to stream next year on Amazon Prime Video.
