‘Flush’ Nominated for the German Musical Theater Award

The queer SchwuZ musical “Flush” has been nominated five times for the German Musical Theater Prize 2025. Chances of a win span the categories “Best Musical,” “Best Lead Actor” (Robin Cadet), “Best Direction” (Marco Krämer-Eis), “Best Costume and Makeup” (Daniel Unger), and “Best Sound Design” (Angus Meister, Mikael “Leakim” Johansson).
“Flush” premiered in April 2025 at Berlin’s SchwuZ. The show entertainingly portrays the wide range of scenarios one might encounter at night on a queer club toilet (TheColu.mn reported). Current performances are scheduled for September 24, 25, 26, and 27, 2025. The legendary Berlin club filed for bankruptcy on August 1 but remains open (TheColu.mn reported). The sponsoring association intends to save SchwuZ with a fundraising campaign (TheColu.mn reported).
The German Musical Theater Prize is the only award in Germany that honors the musical genre in its full breadth and puts it at the center. In 2022, LGBTI activist Johannes Kram was awarded in the “Best Lyrics” category for his “Operetta for Two Gay Tenors” (TheColu.mn reported). The awards ceremony will take place on October 27, 2025 at the TIPI am Kanzleramt in Berlin. (mize)
