Weekend Preview Plus 3-3-2011 through 3-13-11

Muffins:

It is difficult to even imagine what you are all up to in the hinterland.  No doubt it is fun and refreshing (what with the chill in the air).  Don’t let the cold keep you from enjoying the last vestiges of Winter.  Get out and have some fun!  One of the best ways you can do that this weekend is to attend the Winter Walk in Loring Park on Saturday.  The good folks at Rainbow Health Initiative have arranged for a fun day of fitness boot camp, afternoon mixer and then at dusk a luminary balloon parade through the park and sculpture garden.  Imagine how fun it will be to witness a hundred led lit rainbow colored balloons marching through the park!!

While that is occurring the bears will still be frolicking in the North Woods (well in a hotel in Superior anyway) as they come out of hibernation in anticipation of Spring.

No matter what your plans are this weekend and the week ahead – do NOT forget to celebrate your community and participate!  Frequent your gay-owned and operated businesses.  To Roy, Joel and the staff at Tickles – I am sorry to see your recent closure and wish you all the best!

Here’s the line up.

IT IS TIME! You asked for it, here it is! We never really got to have our LAST gig at Jitters. So, we think it is about time. Erin Schwab, Jay Fuchs and Chris Micek will be playing in the space where it all started! The old Jitters is now called Honey. It is beautiful and they have yummy food and drinks. We will be at Honey on FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 7:30-10:30. There will be a $5 cover, and conveniently you can add that to you…r check. 🙂

I am SO excited. I think we have all missed those crazy Friday nights. I have had so many people over the last couple of weeks talk to me about Jitters and how they miss Friday nights. Guess what? Now we have one. Let’s have the biggest craziest reunion show EVER! I am going to see if they might even put a couple of your favorite martinis on the menu for that night. Schwabberini anyone?

You can call Honey, to reserve a table, at 612-746-0306 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              612-746-0306      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, ask for Jon and tell them you need to be on the music side of the bar. Tell them you are coming to see Erin Schwab. 🙂

I bet we can fill this up in a week. Wanna?

Appleby Hall 117

*This event is completely free and open to the public but you must RSVP to reserve your place. RSVP to [email protected]*

(Trans)Gender 101 offers an opportunity to think critically about the gendered lives we all lead, and how creating accessible environments and inclusive understandings of gender can benefit everyone.

This training creates a space for participants to examine gender identity, gender expression, and our cultural notions of femininity and masculinity.

Drawing on the experiences and scholarship of transgender and genderqueer communities, combined with facilitated activities and small group discussion, attendees think about gender in new ways and leave with steps they can take to help make our campus and larger communities more welcoming and affirming for everyone!

This event is free and open to the public.
Free food and educational materials will be provided.

For more information, please contact Ross Neely at [email protected].
