I LOVE Minneapolis!

So Muffins,

Today, after a delicious brunch at the Loring Kitchen & Bar, we decided to stroll around Loring park (home of our own Berger Fountain).

Because of their beautiful coordination and parasols, I decided to hike on over and chat about the fountain that they were enjoying.  It was August of last year – after my dear friend Tom Reid celebrated his fiftieth birthday – that I fist took a photo and wrote about this beloved Minneapolis treasure.  Still in need of some repair, I am glad to see it operational for yet another summer.  Some of the history of the fountain is found on the official Loring Park website.

The women told me about the show they were attending tonight at the Hillcrest Center Theater that sound wickedly delightful.  The show is My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding.  Now that is a show one can no doubt sink their chops into.

Wondering about Ben jamin Berger?  I found it curious to not myself that he was the owner of the Minneapolis Lakers basketball team that played found home in the Minneapolis Armory which opened to the public for the first time since 1972 just last night.    We live in a stupendous city, full of rich history and great art and sights.  enjoy this beautiful weather and benefit from all that we have at our footsteps!

WHO WAS BENJAMIN BERGER?

The donor of the Berger fountain also known as the Dandelion Fountain emigrated from Poland in 1913 at the age of 16.  His various business ventures included ownership of the Lakers basketball and Minneapolis Millers hockey teams, Sheik’s Café, and a string of movie theaters.  He also served as a Park Commissioner.

There is so much to learn and know about Minneapolis.  I am certain I will enjoy the rest of my life befriending this ever-changing community.  Now, if we could just do something about mosquitoes!!!

Love & Peace,

Margie
