PFund, one the Midwest’s largest philanthropic foundations for LGBT causes, announced that it’s new executive director is Trina Olson.

In a press release, board president Luciano Patiño said, “On behalf of the PFund Board, it is my honor to introduce Trina Olson as our new Executive Director. Trina brings a successful track record working on a variety of LGBT and social justice causes. Her passion and dedication are infectious, and we are excited to start working with her to expand the local and regional work of PFund as she takes the helm in late 2014.”

We would also like to thank our incredible search committee, who gave tremendously of their time and who brought us an outstanding slate of candidates. Their dedication and hard work helped us find an outstanding new Executive Director.”

In April, PFund’s executive directors Kate Eubank and Susan Raffo decided to step down. In July, the Rev. Dr. Rebecca Voelkel was named as interim executive director until the position could be filled permanently

Of Olson’s hiring, Voelkel said, “I’m thrilled to welcome Trina Olson. I’ve had the honor of working closely with Trina over the past five years. She is a seasoned and passionate fundraiser, a brilliant thinker – especially about our work at the intersection of justice issues – and a deeply capable, caring manager. I can’t think of a better person for PFund’s future. I’m very much looking forward to working with her as she steps into her new role.”

Of her new role, Olson said, “At PFund, in Minnesota, and throughout the Upper Midwest I know the LGBT movement has been making progress for decades, thanks to generations of brave and courageous LGBT and allied leaders. For me, the idea that I get to build on a community that is already so strong is what’s really exciting.”
