The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office has released the criminal complaint against Ty Hoffman who is accused of killing LGBT community leader Kelly Phillips in an Aug. 11 shooting.
Hoffman had his first hearing in court on Friday afternoon where a judge set his bail at $2 million.
According to the criminal complaint, prior to the murder, Hoffman had been staying at a condominium owned by an individual with the initials “TL.”
Police searched Linus’ residence and found a suitcase belonging to Hoffman. According to the complaint:
Through a search warrant, investigators examined the contents of the suitcase and found it contained folded, clean, men’s clothing, Hoffman’s passport, Hoffman’s prescription medication, and the ammunition magazine for a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun. The magazine contained thirteen live rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, consistent in caliber, type and brand with the casings at the murder scene and with the bullets recovered from Phillips body.
