mimi

[sws_yellow_box box_size=”100″] On Thursday, Feb. 27, Mimi Imfurst from RuPaul’s Drag Race will be performing and DJ’ing at Saloon[/sws_yellow_box]

Mimi Imfurst was loved and hated by Drag Race fans. After being the third to be eliminated on season three after lifting India Ferrah, Imfurst got a second shot at the drag race crown in RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race but was bumped first after she and partner Pandora Boxx failed to mesh as a team.

See TheColu.mn’s preview of Mimi’s appearance in the Twin Cities.

Poonies show 2014

[sws_yellow_box box_size=”100″]On Friday and Saturday, POONIES at Patrick’s Cabaret returns to the Twin Cities. Minneapolis’s APRIL SELLERS joins with Chicago’s REBECCA KLING to curate an evening of performances in the two-city collaboration[/sws_yellow_box]

After last year’s sold-out performances of POONIES at PATRICK’S CABARET, Minneapolis-based choreographer April Sellers returns with a new crop of performance artists. Joined this year by co-curator, Rebecca Kling, the performances will showcase the whole spectrum of LGBTQ lives through theatre, dance, performance art, film, spoken word, and more.

“I seek to amplify voices that are traditionally unheard. Each year I see a lot of queer performances and some of the work that is breaking through, at least to me, are those pieces, which embrace the entirety of the LGBTQA community. I’m really interested in giving those artists a chance to share their work.” – April Sellers

“The queer community is diverse and complex, and many facets of the community are often left out or forgotten. As a queer artist, activist, and curator, I aim to honor that complexity and seek out other artists who will do the same.” – Rebecca Kling

Justin Leaf as Mistress Ginger
Drawing from her notorious past as a doll on a music box, Justin Leaf as Mistress Ginger takes her audience on jacked up journey from freedom to fetters and back again

Theresa Madaus
Because there can never be enough nun drag, Madaus will be presenting The Confessions of Sister Mary Katharine Perry, an irreverent romp from a recovering Catholic. The Little Dutch Boi may also make an appearance, assuming he’s not too busy keeping the dykes from falling down.

April Sellers
Her new piece Big Baby, Sellers explores queer performance’s influence on feminine archetypes. Set in an array of ruffles, tinsel, and violent lullabies, performers try on, and discard, a range of personas, caricatures, and lingerie in a raw, unflinching race toward adulthood and identity. Performers Tim Rehborg, Emily Gastineau, Kimberly Rhyme, and Heather Spear

[sws_yellow_box box_size=”100″]Show Pony starring Leslie Jordan at Camp bar [/sws_yellow_box]

Get ready once again MINNESOTA! He’s baaack! Arriving at St. Paul’s CAMP BAR for a 5-show limited engagement, LESLIE JORDAN returns to Twin Cities territory with his very own special “night at the races,” one man show. As one of American pop culture’s most recognizable, enduring (and endearing) personalities, the diminutive dynamo rides back into town.
Galloping back in to St. Paul at CAMP BAR with his latest on-stage, autobiographical romp, “SHOW PONY”, LESLIE JORDAN, the delightful, Deep South Dandy saddles up for an evening of horse feathers hilarity! “SHOW PONY” is Jordan’s reflections on the never ending, relentless quest for sustainability and longevity in “La-La Land”; still having to pay your dues, life on the road and what it takes to truly stay relevant and in the race. In true thoroughbred form, he remains characteristically frank, charming, selfeffacing and wicked!
An admitted, inveterate name dropper, any Jordan show is peppered with those star encounters that seem to only happen to him as he continues to have projects literally fall into his lap that surround him with the biggest names in show business. From being banged on the conker with a frying pan by BETTY WHITE (BOSTON LEGAL) to trying to convince his director friend at the helm of the Oscar winning megahit, THE HELP that he’d be just as feasible in the EMMA STONE lead role as the now mega star was to being surrounded by an orgiastic collection of screen legends (JESSICA LANGE, ANGELA BASSETT, KATHY BATES) where getting his eyeballs carved out by a melon baller (AMERICAN HORROR STORY) triggered his natural instinct to cajole for more scene-stealing screen time, Jordan as always simply can’t and doesn’t hold back.!
